The world of travel moves fast!   Let’s keep up–together.   On Fridays,  Traveling IQ curates the highlights from the past week:

Holiday Inn Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao

*It’s a bird.  It’s a plane.  It’s a breaststroker.  Swimmers at the Holiday Inn Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao can play peek-a-boo with passers-by on the street,  24 stories below.   The hotel’s glass-bottom, indoor pool protrudes from the main building and is suspended in mid-air. (via CNN)

*Like sands through the toes, so are the days of our summer.  Before the season ends, plan a trip to one of America’s 20 “awe-inspiring beaches.”  (via USA Today)

*Best Western gets better.  The hotel chain’s Premier brand is planning to open higher end properties in the U.S., Dominican Republic, Haiti, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nairobi and Oman this year.  (via USA Today)

*Hanoi gets happy.  The capital of Vietnam successfully holds the country’s first ever Gay Pride parade with dozens of cyclists displaying balloons and rainbow flags.  (via ABC News)

*What good is sitting alone in your room?…when Liza Minnelli and Alan Cumming are performing at the Cherry Grove Ice Palace.  In what may be considered the gayest event ever to occur in the history of the world, the duo took to the stage for a truly fabulous (I was there!), once-in-a-lifetime performance on Fire Island.  (via Out)
